Vintage 2018 followed a wet, fertile end to 2017; a warmer, drier ripening season then concentrated flavour, with fourteen consecutive January days above 30°C bringing an early, even harvest. Hand-picked fruit was fermented in five-tonne open vats with 30% whole bunches, hand-plunged and pumped over, then basket-pressed to French and American oak to finish fermentation. After 36 months the best single block was chosen barrel by barrel.

Richly concentrated, with layers of dark berry, plum and cherry framed by fine-grained oak — a wine that evolves in the glass and reflects the geology and cool maritime climate of the Angustum vineyard.

Decant before serving. Pair with roast beef, grilled steak, game or matured hard cheese. Drink now or cellar 15–20 years.
